Nepal
Diagnosed with leprosy in 1982, Krishna was cruelly rejected by
people in his village. They refused to talk to him or eat with him.
He struggled to make an income as people were unwilling to employ a
man with leprosy, and Krishna survived by taking loans from other
villagers.
Thanks to the Leprosy Mission, Krishna was cured of the leprosy
bacteria before he suffered any permanent damage. With our support,
he was able to rebuild his life. He joined a Leprosy Mission
supported self-help group and today, he is still an active member
of the group. He has been able to buy some buffalo for income and
has even been able to send his youngest daughter to school.
