A common symptom of leprosy is 'dropped foot', caused by damage to nerve roots, which makes walking very difficult. Playtime for Rahi

 

As with many people affected by leprosy, by the time Rahi's local doctor in Nepal realised he had leprosy, Rahi had already lost the feeling in his feet. He became house-bound and unable to move without help. A pair of crutches has meant that Rahi can now go to school, and play with his friends.
