Prayer & Praise March 2011

'The Lord has set apart the redeemed for himself. Therefore He will listen to me and answer when I call to Him.' Psalm 4v3 TLB

Tuesday 1 March

Praise God that the Leprosy Mission is a prayer-driven Mission that seeks to do God's will for people affected by leprosy, in His way and in His time. 'And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 4v19

Wednesday 2 March

Dr Louis Paluku Sabuni was recently appointed TLM's new country leader for DR Congo. Pray for wisdom and discernment for Louis as he leads TLM's work in the Congo and that he will know God's guidance on a daily basis.

Thursday 3 March

Pray that the Moneybox News being sent to all our valued moneybox supporters, with updates on the impact their donations have achieved, will be uplifting and encourage more people to become moneybox supporters.

Friday 4 March

Leprosy can rob people of dignity, self-worth, physical ability and at times even family, friends, a job and an income. Pray that skills training through Leprosy Mission N.Z.'s Women's Empowerment Projects in India will continue to be successful enabling individuals and groups to become economically independent.

Saturday 5 / Sunday 6 March

Remember today the Griffiths Family, Dr Mark, wife Faye and children Amy and Josh, in Niger. Pray for their health and for grace as they continue to knit into the local community. Pray also that the vacancies at the Danja Hospital will be filled; i.e. an administrator and a full time doctor to assist Mark.

Monday 7 March

Over the next two weeks Matt Halsey (Programmes Manager) will be working with WHO (World Health Organisation) and Papua New Guinea Department of Health to undertake a full review of PNG Government's National Leprosy Programme. This review will be the basis to develop a five year strategy to eliminate leprosy in Papua New Guinea. Pray for continued good relationships with government health workers and that the desired goal will be achieved.

Tuesday 8 March

Today is census day in N.Z when all New Zealanders will be counted.  Praise God that through the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Calvary, all of His redeemed children are counted and written in the Lambs Book of Life. (Revelation 20 v 11 to 13)

Wednesday 9 March

Ash Wednesday is a day of repentance and marks the first day of the season of Lent. It not only prefigures the mourning at the death of Jesus, but also places christians in a position to realize the consequences of sin.  Ash Wednesday is a day where we can reflect on what needs to change in our lives if we are to be fully Christian. 'Remember O man that you are dust, and unto dust you shall return.' Genesis 3v19

Thursday 10 March

Remember today Michelle (wife of Matt Halsey, Programmes Manager) and their two young preschoolers Isla (4) and Eve (1). Pray that Michelle and the children will all be kept in good health while Matt is overseas.

Friday 11 March

Today in China the 13th International Day for 'Dignity and Respect' will be celebrated with a talent show to portray to the public that imperfections are a kind of beauty with all people being equal and deserving to be treated with dignity and respect. This celebration is being organized by HANDA and two other Chinese NGO's who work with disabled people in the cities of Guangzhou, Kunming and Nanning. Pray this special day will be successful in promoting understanding and acceptance of the uniqueness of each individual.

Saturday 12 / Sunday 13 March

Pray for TLM country leaders who are experiencing stress because of lack of finances and program closures, especially in Bangladesh where large numbers of staff have been made redundant. Pray that with program closures leprosy-affected people will not be forgotten.

Thursday 17 March

Praise God for the many bequests that the Leprosy Mission New Zealand has received during the last year to help us to try and meet our promised commitment to projects in the field. Praise God that we can trust Him with all our needs. 'For the one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.' I Thessalonionas 5v24

Friday 18 March

Praise God for supporters who donate to the work of the Leprosy Mission through Payroll Giving. Today is World Day for Water, a day set aside to consider the great importance of this God-given resource.
