In 2008 we launched our first Gift of Sight Appeal to help people and their families who are affected by leprosy-induced blindness.
Thanks to the generosity of so many, we've been able to help hundreds of people in China regain or improve their sight through the HANDA Eyesight Saving Project. One such person is Uncle Lai, whose eye operation was so successful that he has been able to take up photography again after many years of near-blindness. Read his story
But there is still so much work to do.
We've helped one little corner of the world, but there are many other countries where leprosy-affected people and their families are living with the terrifying consequences of blindness. In 28 countries around the world, from Ethiopia to Bangladesh, from China to Papua New Guinea, we still need your urgent support.
We hope you will take the time to read Uncle Lai's moving story and then consider giving the Gift of Sight to many others like him.
