What does Global Partners Ethiopia support?

Zenbe Work Micro-Enterprise

Designed and implemented by ENAELP, the goal of this project is to address the underlying causes of poverty in the leprosy settlement of Zenbe Work on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. It provides opportunities for self-employment, income generation and education. Many teenagers are participating, and seeing their eyes light up as they talk about their new opportunities stirs the soul. This project is really making a difference in the lives of many who were previously downtrodden and stuck in a trap of poverty.

Education For Life

By the end of 2006 The Leprosy Mission aims to support the provision of vocational and academic training opportunities for approximately 400 children whose parents have either been affected by leprosy or are other poor members of the Zenbe Work community. Once the students have graduated from their studies The Leprosy Mission also aids them in finding jobs (in industries such as catering, electronics, construction, teaching and mechanics) and enabling them to get off on the right foot for a successful career.

In developing countries, the ability to work and earn an income is more than a means to support ones’ self and a family. With it comes status and respect from the wider community. However, leprosy inevitably robs people of any esteem that they may have from their family, friends, or community.

The Leprosy Mission works to empower the poor and the rejected so that they may not only earn a wage, but restore the respect that was denied to them by leprosy.

How much do I pay?

You can pay however much you would like - the usual amount is a donation of $30.00 per month, or $360.00 per year. However, we appreciate whatever support you can offer.
