What We Do - Where We Work
Ethiopia
In Ethiopia The Leprosy Mission New Zealand's grassroots leprosy organisation partner is ENAPAL (Ethiopian National Association of People Affected by Leprosy). This has more than 15,000 members, most of whom are directly affected by leprosy. ENAPALenvisions a stigma-free society without isolation or discrimination. A major goal is to integrate people affected by leprosy, and their families, into mainstream society where they are fully accepted.
ENAPAL Capacity Building
The Leprosy Mission New Zealand has been supporting the
growth of ENAPALfor some years through a long term capacity building
project. This has enabled ENAPALto recruit skilled
development practitioners so that the 75 regional and local
associations can develop projects that address their specific needs
and priorities.

Grain Mill Project Addis Ababa:
The Addis Ababa Regional Association has taken several initiatives
over recent years to provide income-generating services for the local
community. These include selling various grains needed locally,
making and selling handicrafts such as embroidery, providing a
local donkey-powered freight service, and providing accommodation
for the families of people receiving treatment at the local
hospital. The latest initiative is to provide a grain milling
service for the community.
The surpluses from the milling service will be used to help elderly and disabled members of the community.
