Just beCause I have leprosy…
This World Leprosy Day, join our Just Cause in fighting for the
basic rights of people affected by leprosy around the
world.
The rights to adequate housing, an education and even the right to get married are all things we take for granted here in New Zealand. But too many people around the world are denied their rights because of the stigma and myths surrounding leprosy.
Join the global movement for justice
This World Leprosy Day on 31 January 2010, and Leprosy Awareness Week, 1-6 February, stand alongside those affected by leprosy and celebrate rights for all on a global scale.

Justice for
Aleme and her community
Many Ethiopians affected by leprosy, like 28-year-old Aleme, have no choice but to live under the temporary shelter of plastic bags in churchyards and hospital grounds, constantly being moved on with little means of survival.

With the support of The Leprosy Mission New Zealand, many
communities can now stay in their homes - safe and secure - built
on land which is legally theirs.
Support The Leprosy Mission's work in communities like Aleme's.
$50 could help provide resources and skills
training to help a community secure the right to safe, adequate
housing.
$100 could help cover the cost of two radio
broadcasts (morning and night) to help raise awareness and dispel
the myths surrounding leprosy.

Day resource pack, which contains a poster, talking points about
leprosy and justice in scripture, and a press release for your
local media.
