Traditional healers could not cure Mong Tan Mro of leprosy. He was banished from his remote hill top village in Bangladesh, and spent five years in the jungle - ailing and afraid.
Determined not to die alone in the wild, Mong Tan survived lack of food or shelter and attacks from wild animals. He walked for days to reach a town where he finally found Leprosy Mission staff at a clinic who were able to treat him:
"No-one try to understand me. No-one consider me as a man. But Sister Lampati gave
me food, cloth and shelter, and the Leprosy Mission saved me from dying".

Mong Tan Mro is from a remote area in Bangladesh, the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The tribal
people there lead a hand to mounth existance, cut off from neighbouring villages by steep,
often impassable mountain tracks through dense jungle. Their isolation means that
leprosy is often untreated, which is why we need your urgent support today.
